If you have been suffering from back pain for a long time, or if you’ve recently felt some aches in your back, and you’re starting to get worried, it’s good to know that you don’t have to rush yourself to the Emergency Room just yet.

Unless you have a serious medical history that indicates something worse, a back ache could simply mean you’re tired; you laid down or sat up the wrong way or various other reasons.

Sometimes, even back pains brought by chronic illnesses and other related issues can be treated by the tips we’ve listed down below.

1. Core Strength Training

There are some fairly easy core strength exercises perfect for beginners and ones that are made for experts. It’s best if you go to a therapist or the gym to get professional assistance especially during the first few sessions of exercises. Once you have learnt your training routine you can always carry these out from the comfort of your own home. Among some core exercises that you can do at home are push-ups, squats, plank exercises and v-sits.

2. Stretching

Sometimes it’s all about stretching—maybe you’re sitting down way too long or staying in bed for too many hours than you really should. Remember that stretching shouldn’t give you any pain so if a particular stretch is painful, do not force it. Try enrolling in a yoga class and learn the best stretching exercises for you to relieve back pain effectively.

3. Deep Tissue Massage

Treat yourself to a trip to a day spa or even a home spa therapist. Most will offer a sports therapy massage, generally these massages contain essential oils made only from the finest ingredients. You don’t want just any ordinary lotion or oil being used on you. More than the massage itself, the essential oils used are highly effective and work along side the massage to relieve aches and pains.

4. Posture is Key

Stand up straight, sit up straight, don’t slouch. Yes, it could get tiring at times but you have to maintain your posture to avoid having further back aches. You will soon get used to it if you pay attention to your posture now and sitting up straight.

5. Stay Active

Run, swim, go biking, walk around—do anything that will keep you moving. If your job requires you to sit in front of a computer all day, park farther than your usual parking space and walk back to your car. If you would usually drive down to the park, which is just a few blocks away to walk your dog, walk all the way there.

6. Pilates Exercises

Pilates exercises are definitely helpful in relieving back pain. Core exercises, stretches, improvement of posture and staying active are all rolled into one great workout. If you think this fitness scheme could be too hard for you, then it would be great to know that there’s always Pilates for beginners.
